House Extension, Renovation & Loft Conversion, Oxford

Project Details

Year: 2017
Cost: £280 000
Location: Oxford

Description

Kennet Design delivered architectural and planning services for this exciting house extension, renovation and loft conversion of a charming Edwardian townhouse in central Oxford.

We gained first-time planning approval, navigated through the building regulations, partnering with structural engineers and a private building inspector to bring the scheme to reality. Furthermore, we helped identify and appoint a quality, local, building contractor and project managed the build phase through to completion even owning responsibility for all final material and colour choices.

The client brief was to carefully restore the original period features whilst adding new contemporary living spaces. We included a state-of-the-art kitchen, slick bathrooms and Nest intelligent heating controls. A modern, bright feel was achieved with a clean, off-white colour scheme and plenty of glass for natural light, such as the bifold doors opening onto a terrace and fixed flat roof lanterns. Additionally, an über modern home office with more of its own unique detailing was built at the end of a landscaped garden (also designed by us). In our client’s (and our) opinion we think this is a triumph of a renovation and house extension and we are very pleased to have been a part of it.
