Oak-framed Extension & Renovation of Grade II Listed Cottage, Wiltshire

Project Details
Year: 2016
Cost: £200 000
Location: Lacock, Wiltshire
Description

Kennet Design were appointed to arrange planning permission and listed building consent for the sensitive renovation and extension of this Grade II listed, stone-built cottage near Lacock, Wiltshire. Included in the scope of this project were internal alterations over both floors, a conversion of the existing double garage to become the kitchen and this wonderful oak-framed glass extension leading to the garden. Architectural proposals had to be designed sympathetically and we allocated a heritage consultant to lead the planning activity. We applied early on in the process for pre-application advice to ensure the Conservation Officer was fully on board with the proposals. This meant we were able to secure approval first time. We were then able to technically design the scheme and prepare building regulations drawings to satisfy building control. Finally, we identified and appointed a local, trusted building contractor and oversaw the build phase to completion.
