When you decide to extend your home we will sit down and discuss your requirements in detail so that our architectural team is fully aware of the kind of extension you want before they start work. Factors that are important for us to know in the design brief are what your budget is and what use you will put your new extension to.

We will investigate the best place to site your house extension/s and what size it should be. If your home is in a conservation area or is a listed building, there will be further controls on the alterations you are permitted to make to the property and we will advise you of this in turn.

It’s also necessary to determine what impact an extension will have on your neighbours. There’s not only the upheaval of the construction period to consider but if there is a party wall involved or any obstructions to views and so on, you’ll need to have the neighbours on side from the start of the project and keep them informed right through to completion.

Most house extensions will need planning permission (with the exception of some single storey extensions, loft or garage conversions or conservatories). It’s also necessary to comply with the  building regulations. We can take care of the red tape for you, if you wish, and are happy to recommend a reliable builder to take on the construction work.
