A family in St Ives asked us to design a three-storey replacement dwelling that could take full advantage of the site and its sea views. The existing bungalow sat low and inward-looking, missing both light and outlook. They wanted to self-build a family home that felt open, contemporary, and connected to its coastal setting.
We replaced the original house with a vertically organised home that rises through three levels, using height to unlock long views to the sea. We arranged the main living spaces to capture light and outlook, with large areas of glazing framing the landscape. Quieter family spaces sit lower in the house, with living areas above where the views open out.
